Graeme and Alex, Why do you think David Almond wrote this book? Is this like any other book that you have read or heard? What genre do you think this is and why?
As you read this book, I want you to think about the role that man play in this book and the role that the baby plays. Think also about the life that Michael has.

The first line of this book is "I found him in a garage on a Sunday afternoon." Just from this line, I can predict that this book will be interesting, cool, and creepy. In the second chapter, Michael tries to go into the garage of their new house, but his mom caught him and made him stop.
Although I haven't read much, I think I can infer that David almond wrote this book because he liked the idea of having a plot that isn't adventurous, just cool.
I think the genre of this book is fiction because someone as old as Skellig couldn't live.
I really from the first 4 pages couldn't guess why David Almond Wrote this book. So far this is about the oposite of the books I read. The genre... probaly horror/fiction because nothing like this could acually happen
Graeme, I liked that you used a quote from the book in the first line. DO you think the parents will discover the man? Alex, yes, you will need to read a bit more to discover why DA wrote this book, but I thought Graeme was onto something. Let me know what you think about the genre as you continue to read. Michael has now seen Skellig. Skellig just said "What do you want?" over and over again. Michael goes out of the garage. In the night, he convinces himself that Skellig was just a dream. We also find out that his baby sister might die. I predict that she will.
Wow, when he was explaining the garden I got the strange feeling that he was talking about my beautiful yard of weeds... and, more weeds... any way when he found that guy I was kinda wierded out, I mean seriously how would you react if you went into your garage and you saw a random guy just lying there? I think that Michael took the situation way too calmly, I would have at least told my dad!
Hmmmmmmmmmmm... well I wonder why Skellig wanted an Asprin so bad, I suppose If we lived that long we would be sick too... I do feel kind of sad for the baby though it being sick and all, I can't remember if they ever say her name... I wonder why not?
Now he saw Skellig again, and realised he wasn't a dream. Skellig asked for 27 and 53 to eat. I didn't know what that ment, but when Michael's dad asked what he wanted for takeout, he ordered 27 and 53. He saves half for Skellig. I think Skellig is being kind of rude, because he keeps saying "Go away!".
Sop then I suppose Skellig's real name is Arthur, very strange fellow... Greame what do you think about Mina? Personaly I think she's very weird... Do you think he'll show her Arthur?
I just figured out that the guy in the garage's name isn't skellig, it's Arthur. He said that part of his name is Arthur. I wonder what skellig means...
well i am done with this book and its really good i really like it!!! it is wonderful to imagine that we live in a world filled with angels and miricles that could happend if we only belive and we have faith that anything can happen!!
In the book Skellig Michael and his family have moved to a new town.They bought a new house and while Michael was in the garage he came across what he thought was an animal is something else.What could it be? Michael soon finds out that what he thought was a animal is actually a man who's been living in the garage.Michael has a big issue because his mom and dad want to tear the garage down what can michael do? can he stop it?
Skellig its a great book filled with mystery and suspense sadness and hope,a book from Michael's point of view a kid that its trying so hard to believe that his sister is OK !! Michael's parents are maybe a little worry about their daughter and the house that they just bought and maybe that's why michael feels sad but he knows that his parents love him!! michaels little sister has a problem with her heart and she is only a baby she is in the hospital with her mom and michael its at home with his dad fixing the house so when the baby comes back everything its alright!! but michael meets a personality in the house garage that only asks for 27 and 53 ("the food of the gods")and aspirins michael didn't know how to react to this person at first he didn't know who he was or what he was!!! and then many things happen out of the ordinary things that will make you believe and have faith but most of all it teaches you to love life more and live every day of your life to the fullest because you never know what you have until you lose it!!
I have just found out that his name IS Skellig. Michal and Mina have just taken him to the abandoned warehouse with the "DANGER" sign on it. I think that Skellig's an angel. They keep hinting at it throughout the book, with the owls, the "arms" behind his back, the shoulder blades; they all point to it. I thought Skellig's name was Arthur because he said that was his name, but really what he was referring to was that he had arthritis.
They went to skellig and brought him up in the abandoned warehouse. They took off his coat, and saw skellig's wings. I am absolutely positive that he in an angel. Later, Michael's friends made fun of him for hanging out with Mina.
Michael and Mina have just gone to the warehouse where Skellig is. He wasn't in the room where they left him. They went up into the attic and they saw Skellig. They gathered in a circle and spun around and around. Michael thought he could see wings on mina. then it was over, and skellig said "Remember this night".
